Kitchen Construction

Here are a couple pictures from kitchen construction day. We also worked on painting the stairs, tiling the back entry way, more kitchen lights, appliances etc. etc. etc......We have 2 lots of interest in the place and tons of appointments setup to show the property :) YIPEE!! We are almost there (I really shouldn't say we as it is mostly Josh doing everything). Luckily the babies were good yesterday and slept in their car seats while I helped install cabinets and other stuff. It is so nice that the place is clean so they can come down and we can help dad out. Carpet is going in on Tuesday, I can't wait! These final touches are making the place look amazing. Pictures don't do it justice.

Pooper

It's Painted!

The front bedroom fan and light
Looking towards the front door. Kitchen galley is on the right.

Hallway looking towards the back door. Bathrrom on right, bedroom on left.

Looking towards rear of house. The window in the back is a house closet.

Living room area in front of house. Nice new fan, it looks great! The beams were original to the house that we saved.

Painting is finally done!! It looks amazing, can't believe we are at this point. Josh worked last night installing all the lighting, fans, outlet plates etc. etc. It's so amazing to have light switches that work now. It makes for working at night a lot easier. Here are a couple of pictures. He is going to spend tonight putting all the window casings on and then it is onto the floor.

Drywall Drywall and more Drywall

Here is the bathroom. We just need a little more tile up, but the rest is ready to go!!! The light fixtures and fan are all set and we actually have our first working switch :) It took a couple coats of primer and we were able to get the paint up.

This is the upstairs, most of the drywall up here is completed.
Here we have the cathedral ceiling in the front of the house. It is great to see things start looking like walls!!
We had an interesting situation yesterday. It has been raining all weekend but Josh needed to pick up some drywall. Therefore, he went to the Depot and purchased some plastic to place underneath and wrap around the drywall so that he could get it home without ruining it. Well....About 4 blocks from home the light turned green and away the truck went but the drywall slid right off the truck!!! I guess the plastic wrap acted as a lubricant. Luckily, his friend was with him and someone stopped to block traffic. They circled around and quickly got the drywall back in the truck without getting hit by any cars or breaking any of the pieces. I was told the loading drywall 3 times is much worse than 2. Especially because they had a load of 10 foot pieces vs. the 8 ft. pieces and you are in an extremely busy intersection.

Drywall

Here are some pictures of the drywall. Josh got most of the normal height ceilings completed today and the bathroom is about 3/4 of the way done!!! We ran out of drywall so time to call it a night :)

Some Pictures

We had an interesting weekend. Went over to the house Sat. morning and the heat would not go on! Oops, the entire furnace was frozen, apparently it could not handle the 40 below zero. All the water and condensation on the inside was frozen solid. After about 5 hours of blowdrying and a small oil heater we were back in business and it fired up. Lesson learned: we are keeping the furnace on all the time now at the minimum of 40 degrees so we don't have this problem again. Lots more insulation is going up so this should help....and we have all the windows done now including the new one that had to be cut into the bedroom wall.
Josh hooking up the last of electrical in the back of the house. Bathroom is all set to have the rest of the insulation and plumbing put in this week. There was a window in the way of the wall so this was removed and siding installed on the exterior.

Here are the switches for the great room. We have installed a switch that will control the light and fan speeds. Smart thinking considering it will be too high to reach!!

More electrical and insulation being installed in the great room. Also, the ceiling framing is now completed.

We Have Rooms!!

Here are a couple pictures to show you the progress. Josh has one bedroom completely framed, the door installed and is working on the electrical this evening.

The other wall he built will the back wall to the kitchen. This wall is shared with the bathroom and a second bedroom. The doorway will lead to the bathroom and is situated next to the second bedroom. They didn't give us the proper hardware for the 2nd bedroom so no door yet but hopefully soon!!
